Nicholas Mulilo scored his first goal for Warriors against Nkwazi

Kabwe Warriors were held to a 2-2 draw by visiting Nkwazi in the first home game of the 2017 FAZ Super League played at the Railway Stadium today.

Goals for Warriors came from new signings Clement Mwape and Nicholas Mulilo who were both making their home debut.

Chintu Kampamba was hoping to oversee a perfect start to his first full season in charge as Kabwe Warriors coach in front of an expectant crowd.

Both sides threatened in the early exchanges of the match but none could find the opening in the first 45 minutes.

The home side came out flying in the second half, Clement Mwape headed in a long throw in by Patrick Kasunga  Warriors in front on 47 minutes after a goalless first half to claim the first goal for Warriors.

Nicholas Mulilo doubled Warriors' lead in the 55th minute heading in James Chibwe's crosss but Makasa Kalaba pulled one back 1 minute later for Nkwazi.

Coach Chintu Kampamba withdrew Paul Simpemba and William Njovu late on in the match for George Quarshie and Jonathan Manongo hoping to protect the 2-1 lead.

Chipungu Musukuma came off the bench to score late in stoppage time and bring the scores level to 2-2 forcing a point for the visitors.

And goal scorer Clement Mwape said the team relaxed the moment it was 2-0.

“We lost a bit of concentration at the end. We will work on it for the next game,” Said Mwape.

Ghanaian striker George Quarshie also made his home debut for Kabwe Warriors

And reacting after the match, Kabwe Warriors striker George Quarshie says, it is disappointing to concede late in the game.

“I feel so disappointed that we conceded late in the game, but I hope we win the next game in Ndola. It is always very difficult when you concede a late goal like that,” the Ghanaian said.

Next up for Warriors is a trip to new comers Buildcon in Ndola on 15 April 2017.
