Nkhowani on training in Covid-19 lockdown

Matthews Nkhowani has revealed how he is keeping himself fit during the coronavirus pandemic.

Nkhowani has rediscovered his form since joining Kabwe Warriors from Buildcon at the beginning of the 2019/2020 season. But with football suspended in Zambia, teams are not allowed to conduct group training at the moment.

“I am doing fine personally, I am comfortable doing personal training at home. It is not the same as group trainings though,” Nkhowani said.

“These are difficult times but we have to keep ourselves in good shape, meaning I have to mind what I eat so as to keep healthy.”

Nkhowani has scored 2 goals for Warriors in 25 appearances with one coming against his former side Buildcon at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola and the other against Nakambala Leopards.

He has faced his other former side Nkwazi twice this season with a controversial moment in the reverse fixture at Nkoloma stadium where Nhowani thought he had given Warriors the win with the game tied at 1 all. He unleashed a bullet from 25 yards, the pace of the ball beat Charles Muntanga, bounced under the bar and over the line before zooming out onto the field again.

“I struck the ball so well, and from where I was standing I thought the ball crossed the line. The replays showed that it did cross the line but I can understand why the officials didn’t give the goal. It happened so fast,” he adds.

Nkhowani has since advised fans to keep adhering to the health guidelines and measures put in place by the government.

“We are all in this together, we just need to maintain social distance and wash our hands regularly. Together we can beat this deadly virus.”
