Defeat at home to Zesco United

It was a big bid for Kabwe Warriors to send a statement of intent when they faced league leaders Zesco United on Sunday 7 March 2021.

But it was the visiting team who walked away with three points.

United went ahead in the 15th minute through Enock Sakala Jr with a header scoring past Scot Ngokene.

Sydney Phiri equalized in the 35th minute with a shot from outside the box from his own long throw in which the Zesco United defense failed to clear convincingly.

Zesco United were awarded a penalty 5 minutes later after Dominic Chanda was alleged to have handled in the box.

Adrian Chama scored the penalty to make it 1-2 in favor of Zesco at halftime.

Jimmy NDHLOVU limped off the field of play with a hamstring forcing a change in the second half.

Coach Levy Chabala responded by bringing on Narjis-arhab Lukupa and Matthews Nkhowani to chase the game.

The best chance to equalize came in stoppage time of the 90 minutes with the dazzling Prince Mumba speeding through the Zesco United defense. The ball falling kindly to Mathews Nkhowani who placed his shot wide of Ian Otieno.

The match ending in defeat for Kabwe Warriors who now shift focus to the ABSA Cup quarterfinal clash against Zanaco on Sunday 14 March.
