Warriors bow out of the ABSA Cup on penalties

The Magnificent People’s team have bowed out of the ABSA Cup via a 6-5 penalty shootout loss to Zanaco in a Quarterfinal match played at Woodlands Stadium.

The match went straight into penalties following a 2-2 scoreline in regulation time.

Aka Mwachiaba had put Warriors in front on 26 minutes with a well taken left footed volley from a Shafik Batambuze cross.

Moses Phiri equalized for the Bankers 50 minutes into the game before Field Kandela restored the Blues lead with 7 minutes left to play.

Rodger Kola restored parity in the 88th minute to send the game into penalties.

Kandela and Nkhowani missed their respective spot kicks in the 6-5 loss with Nkogene, Phiri, Shafik, Lunda and Chanda converting for Warriors.

A painful loss but a gallant effort from the team nonetheless.
